However with the Harmony remote if I press volume up while in the Fire TV device actions nothing changes (expected I suppose). With the fire TV remote if I pressed volume up it would turn the volume up on the receiver as it was connected as additional hardware. The receiver is connected via optical audio. However the one thing it can't do so far that the Fire TV remote can do is control the volume on my receiver. I've got this almost completely set up and the TV stick is working fairly well with the Flirc USB and Harmony remote.
Harmony 665 remote with 3 devices: TV, Fire TV Stick (using Flirc) and receiver.
If I have any TV settings to change I can't do that using the fire remote, I have to use my actual TV remote. The Fire TV remote has very limited functionality with this receiver, so if I want to change any of the sound settings I basically have to do it using the Harmony remote or on the receiver physically. This gets the job done but unfortunately isn't enough. Previously I configured the receiver as additional hardware in the Fire TV Stick and would use the Fire TV remote to power on my TV and receiver and control the volume on my receiver. I also have a Yamaha surround sound receiver. Now I'm recently trying to get everything set up using the Flirc USB. I have a Fire TV Stick 4K and a Harmony 665 remote that I haven't been using as I couldn't find an IR receiver that worked with the fire stick as well as I'd like it to. I've been digging into this a bit myself and am still working on it but as part of my poking around the internet I wanted to see if anyone here has a similar situation as myself and wondering what other set ups might have to get this to work.
